#139 When Light Does the Work

139 When Light Does the Work

I took this shot just as the sky started to change. Simple composition, minimal elements, and clean lines.

What really made it work was the colour palette.

Soft oranges in the sky against the light purple and blues in the shadows.

These colours doing all the heavy lifting.

No distractions.

No chaos.

Sometimes that’s exactly what I need

#138 Danikerbos Morning MTB Ride

138 Danikerbos Morning MTB Ride

There are days when I don’t feel like doing anything.

But then I push myself — and about 97% of the time, I’m glad I dragged my butt off the couch and went out for a ride.

This time it was foggy.

I didn’t expect it to clear.

Didn’t expect the sun to break through at all.

But then it did.

And when it did, it lit up the whole forest like it was on fire.

Amazing morning.

One of those where you’re really glad you pushed yourself.

#137 Balcony View – Basilica Sittard

137 De Basiliek In Sittard During Sunset

What you’re looking at is a shot of the basilica in Sittard, taken at sunrise.

One morning I woke up to this.

Stepped onto the balcony and was greeted by some of the most beautiful light I’ve seen in a while.

I grabbed my zoom lens and took the shot.

#136 After Sunset By The Dominicanenwal In Sittard

136 After Sunset By The Dominicanenwal In Sittard

The reflections on the water got me.

So peaceful.

So quiet.

It was one of those really beautiful sunsets.

I was happy just being in Sittard, walking around and taking photos without any rush. Later I made my way into the city centre as well.

Slow walk.

Good light.

All in all…

…a fantastic evening.

#135 Views From Kollenberg

135 Views From Kollenberg

I’ve found riding MTB to be one of the best wake-me-up exercises there is.

I hate going to the gym.

Never liked the atmosphere.

Always felt like I was missing something big… and yeah — fresh air. You just can’t beat it.

You’re outside.

You’re moving.

You’re focused on the trail.

For a while, nothing matters except the next turn, the next climb, the next descent. Your legs burn, your lungs work, and somehow your mind goes quiet.

That’s why I keep coming back to it.

In the gym, on the other hand…

I feel like a monkey in a zoo — constantly being watched.

But anyway…

This photo from Kollenberg is as peaceful as it gets.

No one around.

Just how I like it.

#134 Lost In Beskydy Mountains

The Beskydy Mountains should be a top priority if you ever visit the Czech Republic.

Most people go to Prague, Český Krumlov… maybe Brno.
Very few make it to the northeast corner of the country — and that’s a shame.

Up here, hiking is part of everyday life.
So is eating great food and drinking what’s probably the best beer in the world.
It’s just normal for the locals.

And the second best thing?
It’s cheap.

Good trails, good food, good beer — without the crowds or the tourist prices.

You’re welcome.

#133 Frozen MTB Ride

133 Frozen

Out mountain biking in Geleen. Perfect time to hit the trails. I’ve been neglecting it for a while, so it felt good to finally grab the bike and go for a ride.

#129 Early Morning Walk – Kollenberg

129 Early Morning Walk - Kollenberg

Cold on the Kollenberg.

But the good kind of cold.

The kind that wakes you up properly.

I forgot my gloves, and my fingers were screaming “give us a break” the whole time.

Lesson learned… again.

Still worth it though.

I stayed longer than I planned. Grabbed a few images while my hands slowly went numb.

It’s different up there this time of year.

Quiet.

No rush.

No noise.

Just fresh air, clear head…

I’ll take cold fingers over a noisy day any time.

#128 Frozen Pond Near Born

128 Frozen Pond Near Born

I took this photo while cycling to work.

It’s a nice spot where you can walk or hike around the pond.

The water was frozen — not enough to walk on the ice yet, but getting there.

What stood out right away was the ice forming on the trees.

It looked beautiful.

#127 Church In Bloemenmarkt, Geleen

127 Church In Bloemenmarkt, Geleen

A photo of the church on Bloemenmarkt in Geleen at sunrise.

I don’t have much to say about this one, other than it’s a stacked panorama — 7 vertical shots stitched together to create a single image.

Hope you like it.

Enjoy your Sunday

#126 On The Way To Prasiva

126 On The Way To Prasiva

This shot is from a hike to Prasivá.

One of those mountains you don’t really need to introduce if you’re from this area.

Nothing extreme.

Just a solid, good hike that works in every season.

We went up after fresh snow fell overnight.

The trail was quiet… not a single person in sight. Just me and my mate, walking and having good, old conversations.

What I like about Prasivá is the way it resets you. You don’t come here to conquer anything. You come here to hike, talk, think, and let the day unfold on its own.

And then there’s the reward at the top.

A proper Czech beer.

Cold.

Earned.

Perfect after a snowy climb.

#125 Morning In Karvina

125 Morning In Karvina

What a morning in Karviná.

It snowed all night.

Proper fresh powder… such powder I haven’t seen in a long time. And then the sun finally came up…

Pure magic.

This shot is from the health resort in Karviná. They’ve got a park where you can just walk, sit, and chill.

A place I used to hang out with my mates about twenty years ago.

Walking around there in conditions like this…

Absolutely AMAZING!
