The Story That Still Gives Me Goosebumps!

It took exactly eight minutes and 40 seconds.

I jumped off the roof and ran.

My friend shouted.

“Here… here…”

There was a small ditch just wide enough for both of us.

We jumped in and kept still.

The night was pitch black.

A large bush loomed above the ditch, giving us the perfect cover.

The air was cold, and it started raining.

I heard two guys step out of the car and slam the doors.

My heart was racing like I had just run a mile in under four minutes.

We lay in the ditch, covered in mud, wet, and scared out of our minds.

The grass around the ditch was long and slick from the rain.

I could hear heavy steps through the grass, coming closer and closer.

I covered my face with my black glove and didn’t move.

We were still, like two big rocks blending into the environment.

They stopped just before the ditch.

One of them was no more than four meters away from us.

I thought to myself…

“Tonight, we might get caught.”

About five seconds later, the rain turned into a massive storm.

The kind of rain that floods rivers in minutes.

It was the most intense downpour I had ever experienced.

And I would bet everything I own that it saved our asses.

I turned around and asked my friend,

“Are you alright?”

“Yeah,” he said.

We waited for another five minutes.

When the rain eased up, we got up and ran further into the darkness, as far from the train station as we could.

We were never caught.

The next day was bright and sunny.

We took the train to see the art we did on the wall.

It wasn’t finished, but it stood out like a fart in a library.

We were proud.

Now, almost 20 years later, we don’t do graffiti anymore.

Times changed.

Even though I miss the adrenaline and the thrill, I channel it into graphic design.

Not the same, I know…

But for now, it’s good.

I started September with a new design…

Expanded it and kept working on it.

Now, it’s in the planning stages for a tutorial.

(Do you see the first design blended in the second. I’ll show you how I’ve done it in the tutorial)

This week or next, so keep an eye on it.

I’ll let you know.

All the best,
