I’m Documenting A Life I Don’t Want To Forget.
I’ve been taking photographs for a long time.
And over the years I’ve discovered something pretty important…
Photography gives me a reason to Get Out More.
If it wasn’t for photography, I’d probably never get up before sunrise to chase the light… travel somewhere I’ve never been… ride my bike that extra mile… take the long way home… or occasionally discover a place I would have completely missed if I’d stayed home.
That’s pretty much what this website is about.
A Camera Has Been Coming Along For Most Of It.
I grew up in Karviná in the Czech Republic.
Since then I’ve lived in England, New Zealand and now the Netherlands.
I’ve travelled, hitchhiked, slept outside, climbed mountains, crossed countries, done some wild shit… but I’ve also raised two boys, worked regular jobs, started creative projects and changed direction more times than I can remember.
And through a ridiculous amount of it, there was a camera somewhere nearby.
Looking back, some of the photographs I care about most aren’t technically my best shots.
They’re the ones that remind me where I was.
Who I was with.
What the air felt like.
What was happening in my life at the time.
They’re pieces of my life I don’t want to forget.
Get Out More.
That became the idea behind this entire website.
I want to share some cool photographs with you.
Maybe inspire you to travel somewhere you’ve been thinking about for years.
Take that trip.
Get on the bike.
Walk into the woods.
Or simply explore whatever is around where you live.
It doesn’t have to be halfway across the world.
The whole point of this is pretty simple:
Get Out More.
I just think life becomes considerably more interesting when you go looking.
So I get out.
I take the camera.
And I see what happens.
What You’ll Find Here
Morning bike rides.
Road trips.
Mountains.
Beaches.
Forests.
Small villages.
Sunrises I got up far too early for.
Coffee made somewhere ridiculous.
Places discovered completely by accident.
Photographs of people I care about.
Old photographs I’ve pulled out of the archives.
And stories from places I don’t want to forget.
Some posts will have a story.
Some will have three sentences.
Some photographs probably won’t need much explanation at all.
That’s intentional.
This isn’t supposed to feel like a polished photography portfolio.
It’s an ongoing record of getting out there.
I’ve Been Doing This For A While.
In 2013 I decided to take a photograph every day for one year.
365 days.
Then I kept going.
Eventually that little challenge became 1,000 consecutive days of photography.
Over the years I’ve photographed professionally, worked on commercial projects, made timelapse films, travelled with cameras, obsessed over lenses, editing, light and composition, and probably spent far too much money on photography equipment.
These days I’m increasingly interested in something simpler.
What photography gets me to do.
Where it gets me to go.
Who it helps me remember.
And whether twenty years from now I’ll be able to look at a photograph and suddenly be back there again.
Anyway...
I’m Libor.
Originally from the Czech Republic.
Living in the Netherlands.
Usually carrying a camera.
Still ridiculously happy when the forecast says fog.
And still convinced there’s something worth seeing if I get out of the house early enough.
This website is where I’m keeping the evidence.
Get Out More...
