Sunrise on the Kollenberg.

#149 Foggy Morning Sunrise
Great morning mountain bike ride around the Maas river.
And perfect Sunday morning.
Paradise for taking photos… the fog difused the light perfectly. Everything looked like I was in a movie.
#148 On The Way To Limbricht
Early morning just outside of Limbricht.
I took this photo to remember how good the morning felt.
One of those you know you’ll want to come back to later.
I rode my mountain bike into the nearby woods, set up a small camp, made a cup of fresh coffee, and just sat there for a bit.
Quiet.
Cold air.
Nothing else going on.
After that, I continued on to Born and took a few more photos around the dyke.
Just moving, stopping, and letting the morning unfold.
One of my favourite mornings.
#147 Morning On The Kollenberg
Frozen, fresh, beautiful and peaceful is exactly what I need right now.
Shot from Kollenberg, Sittard
#141 Kollenberg Chasing Light
“Light is the key. Orson Welles said it. Light is the key.”
— James Nachtwey
And there you have it.
From the master himself.
Light really is the key to any photograph… but not all light is equal.
I just love getting slammed right in the face by sunlight first thing in the morning.
That moment when the day starts, everything wakes up, and you’re there with a camera in your hand… that’s just great feeling.
Embrace it.
Live it.
Make the best of it.
#139 When Light Does the Work
I took this shot just as the sky started to change. Simple composition, minimal elements, and clean lines.
What really made it work was the colour palette.
Soft oranges in the sky against the light purple and blues in the shadows.
These colours doing all the heavy lifting.
No distractions.
No chaos.
Sometimes that’s exactly what I need
#134 Lost In Beskydy Mountains
The Beskydy Mountains should be a top priority if you ever visit the Czech Republic.
Most people go to Prague, Český Krumlov… maybe Brno.
Very few make it to the northeast corner of the country — and that’s a shame.
Up here, hiking is part of everyday life.
So is eating great food and drinking what’s probably the best beer in the world.
It’s just normal for the locals.
And the second best thing?
It’s cheap.
Good trails, good food, good beer — without the crowds or the tourist prices.
You’re welcome.
#130 Sunrise Over The Field
A cold early morning walk reminded me why it’s worth putting my boots on and going out.
#129 Early Morning Walk – Kollenberg
Cold on the Kollenberg.
But the good kind of cold.
The kind that wakes you up properly.
I forgot my gloves, and my fingers were screaming “give us a break” the whole time.
Lesson learned… again.
Still worth it though.
I stayed longer than I planned. Grabbed a few images while my hands slowly went numb.
It’s different up there this time of year.
Quiet.
No rush.
No noise.
Just fresh air, clear head…
I’ll take cold fingers over a noisy day any time.
#128 Frozen Pond Near Born
I took this photo while cycling to work.
It’s a nice spot where you can walk or hike around the pond.
The water was frozen — not enough to walk on the ice yet, but getting there.
What stood out right away was the ice forming on the trees.
It looked beautiful.
#125 Morning In Karvina
What a morning in Karviná.
It snowed all night.
Proper fresh powder… such powder I haven’t seen in a long time. And then the sun finally came up…
Pure magic.
This shot is from the health resort in Karviná. They’ve got a park where you can just walk, sit, and chill.
A place I used to hang out with my mates about twenty years ago.
Walking around there in conditions like this…
Absolutely AMAZING!
#124 Kollenberg Sunrise Shot
A few weeks ago, the morning was just real nice.
Clear sky, frost on the ground, and that crisp air you only get early in the morning.
As I was walking around Kollenberg, looking for a good spot, I thought…
let’s take the photo from here.
Nothing fancy. Nothing special. Just me showing the landscape and the sun coming through the trees.
Mornings like this are the reason I enjoy walking around Kollenberg.
Felt really good coming home after that.
#114 Kollenberg Sittard Panorama
Kollenberg, Sittard.
Nine images stitched together to make this panorama.
What’s funny is… I wasn’t even planning to go there. Didn’t expect anything. Just ended up on the hill and thought, “Alright, let’s see what’s here.”
And then this happened.
One of those rare moments when you find a composition you actually like and the light shows up at the right time.
So I waited for the sun to break through the clouds and took the shots… and everything just worked out.
Sometimes the best photos are the ones you don’t plan.
#111 Bukovec, Mosty U Jablunkova
This shot is from Bukovec, Mosty u Jablunkova.
Heavy snow… actually, super heavy snow.
It came down all day — nonstop.
But once we made it to the hut, the reward was worth every step.
Czech beer and a bowl of garlic soup.
Perfect way to end a snowy hike.
